Geneva in Stripes

IMG_4746IMG_4754Hello! I’m really excited for this post because it combines my love of fashion with my love of Architecture, as the shots were taken in some stunning locations.

I originally wanted to post this dress in 2 ways, taking it from day to night, but Friday became quite cold and 5 minutes before leaving to shoot the post, I realized I would freeze to death! So, I tucked the dress into one of my favorite black skirts, and, voila, this outfit was created. I love it! This skirt is classy and feminine and would flatter any figure! Best of all, it’s very affordable as I bought it at Zara.

IMG_4758Downtown Geneva is stunning. Honestly, I feel I have gone back in time every time I step onto a small cobblestone street curving into the dark, and it sets my imagination on fire! People often describe Geneva as artificial and stale, compared to some of it’s neighboring Swiss cities, and I can agree with that to a point, but when you look deeper and step off the shopping streets, (which I like too) you find a city full of history and such beauty that I’m often rendered speechless. Europe is different in the eyes of an American, as we aren’t used to such seasoned history on our streets so blatantly reminding you to slow down, take a breath and soak in the daily moments of your life. This MUST be why they all take 2 hour lunches. 🙂 I was in Geneva, this day, with my girlfriend Josephine, who is also a blogger, and so we help each other out with our photos, and it’s always a fun time. We found this perfect Lutheran Church in the middle of the city that was too perfect to pass up. I also found an old postcard photo, to compare with my new and more recent shot! Incredible!

The pictures below are taken with a view of the St Pierre Cathedral which was built between 1160-1252, on ground where a 6th Century basilica stood before! Incredible! In a few of the pictures, you can even see one of the towers, which I just found out can be climbed, so I will be doing that soon. The spot is right by the carousel, and I love to grab a Starbucks and just sit here, as I can still view Lake Geneva down below, and look up into Old Town up above! It’s a perfect place to read a book or people watch.

IMG_4725 IMG_4739I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you all have blessed days!
